So… Church guy goes into a bar (No joke – true story). Church guy goes into a bar and sits at a table reading his bible and drinking coffee. After too much coffee church guy goes to the men’s room. While standing at stall no. 2 in walks bar guy and stands at stall no. 1. Looking straight ahead (men’s room protocol) bar guys says to church guy, “was that your Bible you were reading?” Church guy responds, “yes it sure was.” Bar guy, “do you always read your Bible in a Bar?” Church guy says “yes” and procedes to tell bar guy about God and his word and Bar guy gets saved at stall no. 1 and now bar guy is a church guy and they do church in a bar. Bar guy has a lot of friends who hang with him in the bar and they all have lots of questions and often talk about religion. Now he and his friends go to church with church guys at a table each week in a bar.
So what do we know….
The “holy ones” are spreading rumors and gossipping about Church guy for going to the bar.
The “traditionalists” aren’t sure you can get saved without an altar.
The “legalists” are convinced that church guy is now an alcoholic because of his associations.
and the Bar guy is forever changed because the church guy was more concerned with being a light in the darkness than hiding his light in a safe sanctuary.
Jesus said, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”
“This little light of mine. I’m gonna let it shine.”

Well Darrell this sounds all too familiar to me. Although I never led anyone to the Lord at the urinal, I have had many intersting conversations and some great times interacting with those who hang out at places other than the buildings where the Christians meet every week.
I will probably be blogging with you pretty often. I started a blog on myspace last year and found that most people don’t blog too often. So don’t get discouraged if it doesn’t catch on. You can count on me though to give you feed back.

This shows that God can use you anywhere if you are willing. The trick is to be willing; willing to listen to the gossip, rumors and naysayers as you obediently follow where God is leading.

tough stuff. Naysayers – never met any…. Rumors and gossip, never heard it….
Wow was I just dreaming.
It is tough to be obedient when we hear listen to those around us.
If you are listening to those around you who are the naysayers, then yes it’s tough. However, when you have those around you who encourage you to listen to God and be obedient it doesn’t seem so hard after all. Thanks for being one who always has encouraged me to listen and obey.
